Beginning in Honfleur, France, Le Boréal navigates the English Channel to Portland, a serene island with lush greenery and limestone cliffs. Next, explore Cornwall’s scenic wonders, from the majestic cliffs and open spaces of Fowey to the golden beaches and secluded coves of Falmouth. Across the Irish Sea, discover Kinsale, a picturesque harbor town at the River Bandon estuary, known for its colorful streets and vibrant atmosphere. Back in England, visit Fishguard, a coastal town with Viking roots, before reaching Portrush, Northern Ireland, where you can marvel at the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway, a geological marvel of hexagonal basalt columns. Conclude the first leg of the journey in Glasgow, Scotland’s cultural capital.
From Glasgow, the adventure continues into the Hebrides, an archipelago of over 150 islands, each with unique natural beauty and historic landmarks. Begin with Iona, where Scotland’s Christianity began, home to an ancient abbey and possibly the origin of the famous Book of Kells. Sail on to Lunga in the Treshnish Isles, a sanctuary for puffins and guillemots, followed by Canna, the “Garden of the Hebrides,” rich in marine birdlife and archaeological treasures from Christian, Celtic, and Nordic history.
The journey then leads to the Outer Hebrides, where you’ll explore the Isle of Lewis and the ancient Callanish standing stones, thought to date back to 2900 BC. Continue to Ullapool, a charming town with white cottages and colorful fishing boats, before visiting Portree on the Isle of Skye. The voyage’s final stop is Tobermory, known for its iconic multicolored waterfront and renowned single malt distillery, before returning to Glasgow for disembarkation.
