From $18,680 per person twinshare (2026 pricing)
Some trips are better shared with a group of like-minded women, and this is the one World Journeys builds exactly that way. Moroccan Heartbeat is a 15-day women-only small group tour through Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech: designed by women, travelled with a World Journeys host, and capped at 10 guests. The 19 September 2026 departure is now closed to new bookings, so this page is the register-interest list for the next one. As a year-tagged guide, the 2026 tour ran from NZ$18,680 per person twin share, and we will send you dates and pricing for the next departure the day they are released.
Where the tour goes
What sets this itinerary apart is the doors it opens, and most of them are opened by women: a family cooking class, an evening in conversation with a female scholar, a women's textile cooperative, a market tour with a local female chef.
- Rabat and Chefchaouen. Fly via Dubai to Casablanca and start in the capital, then two days in Chefchaouen, the famous blue-washed town, with a photography walk and a cooking class in a local family's home.
- Volubilis and Fes. Roman ruins and a picnic lunch on the way to Fes, then the medieval medina, the Al-Qarawiyyin University and Bou Inania Medersa, sunset yoga, an artisan masterclass and a Sufi-themed dinner in conversation with a female scholar.
- The Sahara. A scenic drive over the Atlas Mountains to a luxury desert camp, with a camel trek into the dunes and a night under Saharan sky.
- Todra Gorge and Skoura. Through the gorge country with lunch hosted by a Berber family.
- Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech. Ait Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified village, and a women's cooperative textile workshop, then Marrakech to finish: Majorelle Garden, the YSL Museum, Ben Youssef Medersa, the souks, a market tour with a local female chef and a private cooking class before the farewell dinner.
What is included
Included: economy airfares from Auckland or Christchurch via Dubai, a World Journeys host throughout, 4 star accommodation plus the luxury desert camp, 11 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 7 dinners plus the farewell dinner, all transfers and sightseeing, the listed special experiences and gratuities for group activities.
Not included: travel insurance (mandatory), visas, personal spending and premium cabin upgrades. Travelling solo, you can request twin-share matching with another woman on the tour, subject to availability, which brings the trip to the twin-share price.
What it costs
From NZ$18,680 per person twin share, or from NZ$23,570 travelling solo, based on 2026 pricing. Every figure here is a starting point, not a quote: pricing for the next departure is confirmed when its dates are released. Register your interest and we will send you dates and pricing the day they land, then talk the trip through with you.
Who this tour suits
The group is capped at 10 women, which is small enough that the group genuinely gels. You need to be able to walk 4 kilometres unaided at one time, across old walled city quarters, markets and sites. It suits women travelling solo who want good company on the road, friends travelling together, and anyone whose partner has no interest in Morocco but who is not willing to miss it themselves.
How booking through YOU Travel Napier works
You pay the same booking through us as booking direct, and you get a local agent at 86 Tennyson Street who handles the insurance, the flights either side and the questions in between. The fit conversation matters more on a small group tour than on any other kind of trip: ten people is an intimate group, and we make sure it is right for you before you commit. For a trip built entirely around you instead, see our custom itineraries service.
Frequently asked questions
When is the next departure?
World Journeys confirms upcoming departures and pricing on release. Register your interest with us and we will let you know as soon as the next date is locked in.
I would be travelling alone. How does that work?
Many of the women on tours like this travel solo. You can pay the solo price for your own room, or request twin-share matching with another woman on the tour, subject to availability, which brings you to the twin-share price.
Is the desert camp actually comfortable?
Yes. It is a luxury camp, not backpacker tenting: proper beds and facilities, with the camel trek and the Saharan night sky as the point of being there.
What is the minimum group size?
Departures are guaranteed with six travellers, and a small surcharge may apply if the group is between six and eight. The cap is 10.
