Sri Lanka & Maldives – 23-Day Escorted Tour (2025)

A Journey of a Lifetime: Hosted by Stephen Jennings

In September 2025, I had the privilege of escorting a wonderful group of 18 travellers from across Hawke’s Bay on a 23-day adventure through Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It was a trip that blended colour, culture, and pure relaxation - one I’ll never forget.

We began our journey in Sri Lanka, exploring the island’s ancient cities, tea country, and wildlife reserves. From climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress and visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth in Kandy to watching elephants at sunrise in Yala National Park, every day brought something new and extraordinary.

Travelling through Sri Lanka is a feast for the senses - the warmth of the people, the scent of spices in the air, and the sight of endless green tea fields rolling over the hills. It’s one of those places that stays with you long after you return home.

To finish, we flew to the Maldives, where everyone enjoyed five nights of pure tropical bliss at Joy Island Resort - waking up in beachfront and overwater villas surrounded by turquoise lagoons. After weeks of exploring, it was the perfect place to unwind, share stories, and soak in the sunshine before heading home.
